A Brief History
1960
On September 17th 1960, a group of 10 people met to study the Bible. They discussed the possibility of beginning a new Southern Baptist work in Rushville. On October 19th 1960, the Cooperstown Baptist Church voted to sponsor the new work in Rushville and the mission church had begun. For the next 11 months the small group met in homes for worship and fellowship. They then rented a large house on the corner where the present building now stands.
1961
On October 29th 1961 Bro. Larry Childers was called as the first pastor of the church and on May 13th 1962, the mission was organized into a church with 19 charter members.
1966
On July 27th 1966 the church bought the property where it is currently located.

The church decided to build a new building and broke ground on July 30th 1967 for a new block building to accommodate the growing congregation.

Today
Since those early days of our church we have seen hundreds of people come to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Today we have around 60-70 people in regular attendance. There is a growing excitement about what the Lord is doing at FSBC Rushville. We can't wait for you to join our story!
